Cat Toy Plushies

Cat Toy Plushies

Your Kitty's gonna love these Cat Toy Critters. Fill em with catnip or hang them from a string. Stinky will think your the cats meow.

What you need

Assorted colors of craft felt
Embroidery floss or thread for stitching
Glass beads for eyes
Fiber fill or cat nip for stuffing

Instructions

First, download theย Cat Toy Pattern.

Begin by printing out two copies of the pattern found by clicking on link (Two copies are needed because patterns overlap).

Then print pattern from browser window. Adjustments to scale may have to be made depending on the browser you are using.

Choose a critter and cut out pattern from the paper.

Pin pattern pieces to the felt and cut out accordingly.

Sewingย – A ladder stitch is recommended for best results.

1. Start out by sewing bird belly to one side of bird half and continue up and around over head until you reach the tail.

2. Continue on with the tail in position until the end, knot, then finish the other side of tail.

3. Now go back and finish sewing the other side of the bird belly. Wow you can see the bird taking shape!

4. Sew about 3/4 of the bird base on leaving enough room open to stuff bird.

Fill with fiber fill or a premium catnip, finish sewing base on.

5.Now your ready for the eyes and wings. Knot thread to position of eye, slide on glass bead and go through to other side and slide on other the bead, pull tightly to create small indentation in felt.

Go through a couple of times to securely fasten eyes. Clip wings to give the illusion of feathers then fasten to bird body as indicated on pattern.

6. Stitch on bird feet. Voila your finished!!

Now go make the other two critters, the same technique may be applied to those as well.

Cheers!!

  1. ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. This is so adorable! I made it with one color. ๐Ÿ™ But its still adorable!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Great tutorial and clever idea! I do agree with the commenters about the glass beads though. No beads (glass or otherwise), no rhinestones, no buttons, nothing small enough for kitty to swallow, choke on, or otherwise hurt herself with. Embroidery thread for the eyes is probably best.

  4. Will be making for myself and also to donate. Thanks

  5. I will be using this pattern for my class of art lovers as their first introduction to sewing. They are so cute! I think they will love them!
Agree with below….please put in a cat or dog pattern!!!! Thanks.

  6. These are so cute and easy to make. I’m worried about how durable they are, though. And instead of glass beads for the eyes, I just used embroidery thread to make the eyes(I made little x’s for the eyes.)

  7. so cute! the only problem is my cat only plays with cat toys i make him if their knitted.

  8. what about knitted cat toys? cute pattern though.

  9. so cute!!! its pretty hard to find good patterns for cat toys. do you have any knitted cat toys by any chance?

  10. These are so sweet they make my teeth ache! My kitty will love them!

  11. haha, i’m gonna try making one this weekend.

  16. i made these for all my friends cats last christmas and they all loved them!

  17. great

  18. Warning !!! The last time I made a toy for my cat that was stuffed with catnip it got left out in the rain and it made lovley catnip tea stains all over the toy. So for all of you, keep them dry!

  19. do u think denim would work???i want to make one for my aunt’s cats, but she has one named meter, and i think she would instantly rip felt up

  20. I think the cat toys are wonderful. The only change I would make is to not use the glass beads for a cat toy. Potentially dangerous. Although you really should never leave your cat alone with many toys. My cats are a bit rough especailly with cat nip.

  21. its soo cute but the sad thing is that my cat ripped it up… cats are so addicted to catnip!!

  22. there awsome

  23. Sewing-x-Machine says

Cute… but my cats like to play with pens that roll around on the floor.

  24. so cute! My cat isn’t going anywhere near these!

  25. My cat will love it! I cant wait to try it! So cute!

  26. Soooo cute & easy to make! My cat’s aren’t going anywhere near mine!

  27. so CUTE!

  28. these are so adoreable! wonderful idea!

  29. I made it for my cat and she’s terrified of it!
But she was never much of a hunter…

  30. You could just use them to brighten up an empty desk!

  31. I agree with whoever it was that said the glass eyes would be too dangerous, but I love these!

  32. So CUTE!!!!!!!

  33. this project is very good and challenging for begginers that want to try like me.

  34. So cute! Trust me, I don’t say that alot

  35. this is THE best pattern i’ve seen on here!!!

  36. thanks for the patterns.

  37. this is a GREAT idea you could also make them into finger puppets

  38. I think that htis is a great idea for cats for gifts and for like me I love this it’s so cute FOR MYSELF to have !! ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜€

  39. I’m making one for my friend’s kitty!

  40. I love stuffs like this!
Keep up the good ideรกs ;O)
    Hugs,Anette

  41. very cute!!! I’m Brazilian and I love animals!!!

  42. These animals are so cute. I’d make them for myself without the catnip!

  43. I would not sew glass or any other kind of beads or small objects onto this toy if it is for a cat. They could easily come off and be swallowed by the cat. This is very unsafe.Drawn on eyes would be a better choice.

  44. Outstanding
