Bread Dough Jewelery

Bread Dough Jewelery

This is one of those projects where you don't know how you get the inspiration! Use bread and glue and make some jewerly!

What you need

White Bread (With Sides Removed)
White Glue (Most often used can be Aleen’s Tacky Glue or Fevicol)
Dettol
Fabric Antique Gold Powder
Mixer Grinder
Wooden Mixing Tool
Rectangular Wooden Spatula

Instructions

Take three white bread loaf pieces and remove all the brown sides from them

Grind all these in a mixer grinder

Once you obtain the ‘Bread Grind’ put three tablespoons of white glue in it

Add Dettol

Start mixing all the ingredients using a wooden spatula and eventually knead the mixture into fine white dough

Once the dough becomes soft, pinch a 2.5 inch ball out of the dough and flatten it with hands squeezing, pushing and shaping the dough ball into a rectangular structure

Use a roller and even out the surface of the rectangle. Then take about only a pinch of dough and roll it into a spiral shape. Obtain four such shapes for the four sides of the rectangle and stick them on to these sides

Repeat the process with another ball, but this time, flatten the dough ball and roll it further to make a thick flat circular shape.

Cut 5 circles using an edgy and sharp circular cap of any container

Finally, take the last pinch of dough and roll it into a sphere. You can give it any texture of your choice.

Place all these for drying. This may take from 24-72 hours in which the creations may shrink up to 20%

Once they are dry, color them using medium and antique gold fabric paint. Fevicyrl is the best brand to buy

Share your craft once done. Enjoy!

Comments

  1. If the Dettol is just for a preservative it can be skipped

  2. Dettol is toxic to plants, animals and HUMANS! why would you use this product??

    • I am the one who created this. To answer the toxic part of things…firstly..all metals on earth are toxic, and cause skin trouble? So, do people stop wearing them? Dettol will prevent growth of fungus in the bread, that is why it is used. This type of jewelry is way too harmless, so please do not unnecessary confuse the audience. Dough artists around the world endorse such innovative, easy to make modeling compounds.
