Our website was created by a mother and daughter team, adding a unique combination of crafting qualities and expertise of creativity. We started our website after numerous years in the area of craft, teaching, retail craft and owning a gift store. We decided to launch it to provide resources for teachers, therapists, and craft enthusiasts in the year 1999. Since then, the website has grown tremendously in terms of content and resource information.

Craftbits.com is an independent craft website. We are not funded by any corporation, magazine or other entity. Our revenue is generated by the ads running on this site. For more information go to the Why are there ads on this site page

We hope to satisfy the needs and promote the awareness of the benefits of creativity in everyone, young or old.

We are located in sunny Brisbane on the east coast of Australia. In our spare time (what little is left), we decided to start a charitable program called Bottles of Hope, which is a program that provides hope to Cancer patients in the form of small decorative bottles.

1. Absolute unique visitors increased by over 75%.
   Total visits increased by over 70% (Current average 13273 visit a day).
2. Pageviews increased by over 92%. Average pageviews increased by over 12% (over 7 pages per visitor currently leading to a very sticky site!).
3. Average time on site increased by 8%.
4. Visitors to Craftbits came from 182 countries, 72% from the USA.

Rita Wilson (Diversional Therapist):
Rita has been the proprietor of craft supply stores as well as an avid volunteer in teaching crafts to the young, old and disabled for over 20 years. Rita has worked with disability centers, nursing homes and children in care, employed as a therapist using craft and creativity for therapeutic healing. Rita helps create the projects and focuses on knitting and all the other stuff Shellie hates to do.

Shellie Wilson (Freelance Writer):
Shellie worked in a craft supply store as well as managing market craft stalls then ventured into the tuition of crafts to all ages including children and adults. Shellie became a freelance craft writer designing craft projects for online and print publications such as weekly craft columns and children's magazines and has utilized her imaginative and creative skills to develop our projects and craft products. As well as the projects, Shellie is responsible for the day to day Internet stuff as Rita doesn't know one end of the computer from the other. Shellie's husband who just happens to be a computer programmer helps out with all the backend stuff
